Owned by designer and bladesmith Samuel Marlow, the Standing Stone Armoury has been creating swords for theatre since 2016 before opening for commissions in 2023. In that time the Armoury has equipped the entire cast of two different productions of Peter Pan, and was pleased to create the hero weapons for UK premiere of The Lightning Thief, based on Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The Armoury has also supplied props to productions of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, live events, amateur productions, as well as photo shoots.
Many of Standing Stone Armoury's prop swords are made from an aircraft alloy aluminium. Aluminium is about a third the weight of steel, meaning prop blades can be made much thicker than their steel counterparts, improving safety and comfort for performers, while still allowing the evocative sound of metal-on-metal during your stage combat. Aluminium also doesn't rust, and overall needs much less maintenance than steel.
The Standing Stone Armoury designs and manufactures beautiful, bespoke prop swords, daggers, knives and other blades weapons for use on stage, screen, museum displays, at live events and for photoshoots or unusual gifts, as well as for educational purposes.
The Armoury can also create swords and other items for display and education in various steels as well as bronze, and other copper alloys.

The Standing Stone Armoury has created a number of swords, daggers and other items in bronze, copper and other alloys. While these are not suitable for stage combat due to their weight, they make impressive props if they're not being swung at another performer or are being used as part of a photoshoot, display or in an educational setting. Usual these are dull as the Armoury does not currently supply sharp, heat-treated blades from stock, but we do have a supplier of sharp and dull heat-treated blades that we can customise to your needs.
